Position Summary
The Project Estimator is responsible for supporting both preconstruction and project execution activities. This role includes performing detailed takeoffs, building cost estimates and proposals, assisting with project scheduling, and supporting day-to-day coordination efforts.
Key Responsibilities
· Estimating & Preconstruction
· Perform quantity takeoffs from blueprints and construction drawings (wall, floor, and base finishes)
· Develop cost estimates and proposals based on takeoffs
· Assist with RFP responses and qualification packages
· Project Planning & Scheduling
· Build and maintain project schedules (Gantt charts)
· Track timelines and identify potential delays
· Project Coordination
· Assist with day-to-day project coordination
· Order and track materials
· Coordinate equipment rentals
· Project Tracking & Support
· Track project schedules, timesheets, and overtime
· Monitor progress against budgets and timelines
Qualifications
Required
· Construction Management degree or 1–3 years of relevant experience
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
· Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Oracle Primavera or Smartsheet
Preferred
· Experience with takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift)
· Familiarity with estimating software
Physical Requirements
· Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods of time
· Ability to occasionally walk active job sites, including uneven surfaces and stairs
· Ability to lift and carry up to 20–30 pounds on an occasional basis
· Ability to review blueprints and digital screens for extended periods
Work Environment
· Primarily office-based with periodic visits to construction sites
· Exposure to construction site conditions such as noise, dust, and weather
· Use of PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots when required
